When a person visits a hospital emergency room with a serious health issue, medical professionals are often required to make quick decisions regarding treatment. Doctors and nurses in New York are subjected to intensive training in order to prepare for similar situations. Unfortunately in some cases, failure to diagnose and treat a condition in a timely manner can result in serious harm to the health of a patient.

Recently in another state, a woman was awarded a substantial monetary judgment after she was forced to undergo multiple amputations. Reportedly, medical professionals failed to notice that the woman had sepsis, which can be life-threatening if not properly addressed and treated. She was subsequently forced to endure amputations on both legs below her knees, as well as one arm around the elbow and several fingers on the other.

The woman claims that upon arrival at the hospital, she was not treated for several hours. According to the claim, the medical facility was reckless and negligent in its treatment of the patient, resulting in severe and permanent losses. Having both legs and one arm removed can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life. An individual who suffers a similar loss is often unable to return to activities that he or she may have previously enjoyed.

Failure to diagnose a condition has lead to the suffering of many individuals over the years. When facing a similar situation, many individuals in New York choose to seek restitution for losses through a claim against the party deemed negligent. Since this can be complex, many victims speak with an experienced attorney for assistance in the process.

Head-on collisions are typically some of the more dangerous types of accidents. There are various factors that cause an individual to veer into oncoming traffic, such as drunk or distracted driving. No matter the cause, the result of a similar car accident can be catastrophic. An individual in New York is facing DUI charges after a recent accident that killed a young man.

According to police, a 32-year-old man was driving westbound when he suddenly crossed into the wrong lane and hit a car. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered a threat to his life. The driver of the other car died at the scene. Police have advised that the man was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

He was taken into custody shortly after being released from the hospital. He is now facing multiple charges in relation to the event, including vehicular manslaughter and DUI. An individual who chooses to drive under the influence of alcohol can cause an accident over which the victim has absolutely no control. Many individuals have been seriously injured and/or killed in similar accidents over the years.

When a person is killed in a car accident under similar circumstances, his or her family may choose to seek restitution for losses through a wrongful death claim against the party deemed at fault. Since navigating this process alone can be challenging, many seek legal counsel for assistance. When facing such a loss, families in New York often speak with an experienced attorney for advice on how to pursue a claim through the civil justice system.

Operating under the impairment of drugs and/or alcohol inhibits a person’s ability to drive safely. This increases the chance for a dangerous car accident to occur, and has lead to the serious injury or death of many victims over the years. A man in New York has died after a recent accident that took place under similar circumstances.

The victim was the passenger in a car that was being driven by a man who was reportedly under the influence of marijuana and alcohol. According to police, the driver was speeding when he suddenly collided with another vehicle. The car then hit a guard rail and the victim was ejected from within and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car is facing vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges in relation to the accident.

Passengers often have little or no control over the actions of a driver when out on the road, especially if he or she is under the influence at the time. Drivers in this condition are unable to properly operate a vehicle, and typically put the health of everyone involved in jeopardy. Losing a loved one in a similar circumstance can be difficult to overcome, and creates many hardships for a family.

End-of-life expenses can be significant, and often cause a family to experience periods of financial struggle. If a driver is found to have been negligent in a car accident that claimed the life of another, surviving family members may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the party deemed wrongful. When facing a similar situation, many families in New York retain the services of an experienced attorney for assistance in navigating the process.

There are a vast number of ways in which an automobile accident can occur. Disregarding traffic signs and/or traveling at a high rate of speed are just a couple of examples of times when a driver can put the health of everyone nearby at risk. Many people who are victims of a similar car accident suffer serious injuries as a result. In a recent collision in New York, a woman was critically injured after being ejected from her car.

The woman was in the southbound lane attempting to make a left turn when a northbound car struck her vehicle. She was ejected from the car and was airlifted to the hospital shortly after. According to police, she remains in critical condition. The other driver remained at the scene of the accident before also being taken to a hospital, but he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

While police have yet to file any criminal charges, an investigation into the accident is likely pending. Factors such as speed and other actions that can lead to a collision are often documented in this process. If the other driver is found to be at fault in the collision, he may be held accountable.

Suffering serious injuries in a car accident often causes a person to experience periods of significant financial hardships. Victims who are injured by the actions of a negligent driver may seek restitution through a personal injury claim. Since this can be complex, victims who are facing a similar situation in New York often speak with an experienced attorney for assistance in navigating the process.

14-year-old boy dies in New York bicycle accidents

By | Bicycle Accidents | No Comments

On behalf of of Kahn Gordon Timko & Rodriques P.C. posted in Bicycle Accidents on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

With heavy amounts of traffic in certain areas, many individuals choose other means of transportation. Bicycles are a common choice of travel for residents in New York who seek to avoid congestion on the roads. Safety is often a major concern in this area, with many bicycle accidents involving automobiles ending in serious injury or worse. A recent accident under similar circumstances claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy.

The young boy was riding his bike when a car making a left turn at an intersection struck him. He was rushed to the hospital shortly after, where he was pronounced dead. Police have initiated an investigation into the accident, and the intersection in question has reportedly been the scene of similar occurrences in the past.

Cyclists have the same rights to use the road as car drivers; however, they are not always easy for motorists to see, and failure to notice a cyclist on the road can end catastrophically. Many cyclists attempt to be cautious when in close proximity to traffic, but reacting to a fast moving vehicle can often be challenging. Traffic laws are in place to protect those who choose alternative means of travel, but their safety is often put at risk by negligent drivers.

Families who lose loved ones in bicycle accidents often suffer in various ways. End-of-life expenses can be substantial, often resulting in significant financial burdens. If a driver is found to be at fault in an accident resulting in the death of another, the family of the victim may seek restitution through a wrongful death claim. When facing a similar situation, families in New York often speak with an experienced attorney for assistance in navigating the process.
